Irish Cream Premix
What Flavour is This Essence?
The Samuel Willards Irish Cream Premix is crafted in the style of the world's best-known cream liqueur — that unmistakable combination of smooth dairy cream, rich dark chocolate, and a gentle warming whiskey character. It's indulgent, dessert-sweet, and perfectly balanced between boozy and creamy. If you love sipping an Irish cream neat, over ice, or stirred into your coffee, this premix delivers that same experience at a fraction of bottled retail prices.
Flavour Profile
Nose: Fresh cream, cocoa, hint of vanilla
Palate: Silky sweet chocolate, warm whiskey undertone, rich dairy cream
Finish: Smooth, lingering, gently sweet with a soft alcoholic warmth
How to Use It?
The SW Irish Cream Premix is one of the most beginner-friendly options in the Samuel Willards range — no distilling still required. Here's how it works:
- Add the entire 375ml bottle of premix concentrate to a clean mixing vessel.
- Add your chosen alcohol base (see below) at the recommended ratio.
- Top up with fresh cream or milk to reach 1,125ml total volume.
- Stir or shake well, then refrigerate for at least a few hours before serving.
- Store in the fridge and consume within 2–3 weeks for best quality.
That's it — one bottle makes over a litre of smooth, ready-to-drink Irish cream liqueur.
What Spirits Can It Make?
This premix is designed to make a homemade Irish cream liqueur — rich, creamy, and perfect for sipping neat, over ice, or with coffee. It also shines as the base for classic cocktails and shooters. The most popular serve is the "Cowboy" layered shooter: equal parts chilled Samuel Willards Butterscotch Schnapps and Irish Cream, layered carefully in a shot glass. It also pairs beautifully in an Espresso Martini, a White Russian, or simply poured over vanilla ice cream.
What Alcohol Base Works Best?
For the truest Irish cream flavour, use a clean neutral spirit or a light whiskey-style base at around 38–40% ABV. A filtered home-distilled vodka base or store-bought plain vodka works excellently and lets the cream and chocolate flavours shine through without interference. If you want a more authentic Irish whiskey character, blend in a small portion of a whiskey-style spirit essence alongside your neutral base. Avoid heavily flavoured or aged bases as they will compete with the delicate cream profile.
